Summer’s almost here, are you ready? Between rising costs of everything and budgets tightening up, more and more people are “dressing up” their backyards and staying closer to home rather than going away for vacations.
They are purchasing better grills and patio furniture, landscaping their properties and having backyard get togethers – activities everyone can enjoy many times throughout the season instead of going broke with that 1 or 2 week vacation across country.
Neighbors are getting to know each other again with hosting neighborhood BBQ s, which we seem to have lost for a number of years now.
When I was growing up, we knew all of our neighbors and their families. Somewhere along the way, we have become so busy with work, weekend trips and log-distance vacations that many of us have never done more than wave hello to our next door neighbors. If we didn’t get their mail by accident, we probably wouldn’t even know their names!
